As our organization gets more involved with the never ending issues surrounding the Great Lakes and the fishery, this page was started to help keep our Membership current on Legislative issues going on in Lansing as well as in Washington. 

Trying to follow the process of Bills introduced in Lansing or Washington is not a simple thing to do.  Especially when they get submitted to different Committees and Departments for review.

Hopefully by using this page it will be a little easier to follow and understand.

You'll also be able to look up your Michigan Representatives and Senators in your District to make contacting them an easy thing to do.

Fishing License Increase/ Senate Bill 0406- Introduced April 18, 2007, Introduced by Senators BRATER (District 18, Washtenaw County) and SWITALSKI (District 10, Macomb County) and referred to the Committee on Appropriations.

Hunting License Increase/ House Bill 4624Introduced April 19, 2007, referred to the Committee on Appropriations. Bill introduced by Rep. Gillard who represents Alcona, Alpena, Crawford, Montmorency, Oscoda, Presque Isle Counties.

Ballast Water Laws / SB 0297, Introduced by Senator Michael Prusi of the 38th District (Western UP) Bill introduced on March 1, 2007. This Bill would delay the effective date the ballast water permit would start from January 2007 to January 2008.

SB 0212- Introduced by Patricia Birkholz, Michigan Senate District 24, Saugatuck Twp, The State of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio & Wisconsin and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby solemnly covenant and agree with each other, upon enactment of concurrent legislation by the respective State Legislatures and consent by the Congress of the United States as follows:  Great Lakes- St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact
