Hey Junior Steelheaders

If you didn’t attend the last few meetings you have missed out on some great topics.

Last month Nancy Edwards came to our meeting to talk about the Genesee County Parks and Recreation (GCPR). At this meeting, the members agreed to adopt an area of a park to clean up.  Nancy will get back with us on what Park we will adopt.  By adopting a park we agreed to three or four ‘clean up’ day’s a year.  A plaque will also be posted that states we, the Flint Junior Steelheader, adopted this park. Other things Nancy talked about were all the activities the GCPR do every day of the week? They print off calendars’ for the month that tells you what is going on and when it is. Now you have a reason to visit one of these parks with your parents everyday during the summer. You won’t ever get bored. They have activities for different age groups. Nancy Edwards plans all of the activities for the parks. She takes everybody’s ideas and incorporates them into one big project. If you have any ideas for silly games to play during the summer let me know so I can tell her

If you didn’t attend the spring Boating and fishing show, we all had a blast. We got to help out with the fish pond and the gun simulator. We had a few new faces sign up during this time!

Fish lovers, you won’t want to miss the next two meetings! In April we have guest speakers coming in to teach us all of the different ways of tying hooks. Guess what, we will be doing it ourselves! In May, we have a guest speaker coming in to teach us how to tie fly’s. We will learn a couple things about fly fishing too.

We are always looking for new members to join this outdoor-loving club. If you know someone who would be interested, bring them to our next meeting.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas for our meetings, please email me at frvjuniors@charter.net.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you next meeting!
