The first big water tournament for the Flint Steelheaders is just around the corner. April 26th, the tournament will be at Harbor Beach. Captain’s meeting will be at 5:15am in the parking lot next to the fish cleaning station. A few things have changed in the rules department, make sure to take a few minutes to read them over for this years tournaments.
The Michigan Recreation and Park Association held their annual awards ceremony on March 19th in East Lansing to recognize individuals and groups who show outstanding support to public recreation and park programs in their community. The Steelheaders were nominated for an award by Nancy Edwards of Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission for our involvement in the annual Kids Fishing Derby. Because of the clubs support for this event the Flint River Valley Steelheaders was granted a MRPA’s Community Service Award. Representing the Steelheaders at the ceremony was Nick Marinelli and Al Trasciatti. Good job and congratulations to all.
The first Flint River Valley Steelheaders River Tournament of 2014 is happening Saturday April 5th. There will be NO Captains meeting, NO entry fees and you can fish any river you want … the Little Manistee, Big Manistee, the Platt, the Betsie, the PM … any river you want. The only rule is that you need to be at the High Bridge Road boat launch no later than 2:30pm for weigh-in. Even if you don’t catch fish you are encouraged to join the group.
