The Au Gres Tournament will be June 1st and 2nd. The Captains meeting will be at 6am at the State boat launch, located at the mouth of the river. The tournament will run from 7am-2pm. Once again, contact Randy Bailey if you have any questions.
Make plans to share the joy of fishing during Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend, June 8th and 9th. On that weekend both residents and non-residents may fish Michigan’s waters without a license. More information can be found on the Michigan DNR website www.michigan.gov/freefishing.
This weekend is the Holland Steelheader Challenge put on by the Holland Steelheaders. Saturday the 18th is the Holland Challenge and Sunday the 19th is the Flint Steelheaders Lure Tournament for the 1st 15 boats that enter. The May Membership meeting is Wednesday the 15th at Walli’s on Center road in Flint. Social hour begins at 6:30pm and the meeting starts at 7:30pm. This months speaker will be Randy Disbrow from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary He will be speaking about forgotten boat safety equipment and common fines imposed by the coast guard during inspections. This weekend we head back to Lake Huron and this time we head out of Linwood. May 4th and 5th we’ll launch out of the Linwood Beach Marina. Captain’s meeting at 6am and the tournament will run each day from 7am-2pm. As always see Randy Baily for more information. See you there.

Welcome to the new Flint Steelheaders website. We’ve been working on improving our clubs presence on social media, and that has included an update to our website. The new design will give us a plenty of flexibility, not only in look, but it will be easier to edit and keep current. We hope that you use the website to keep informed about the latest Flint Steelheaders news. We know many of you are on Facebook, so we’ve been working to make our Facebook page interactive and informative. If you haven’t had a chance please make sure to that you visit us and like our page on Facebook.
Our April Membership meeting is this Wednesday the 17th at Walli’s on Center Rd. Our membership meetings are open to all members and non-members. The meeting will start at 7:30pm, but social hour begins at 6:30pm. This month Jim Vandermass from the Michigan Steelhead & Salmon Fisherman’s Association will be our guest speaker to give us an update. Plus we’ll have raffles, Board of Director elections and awards for Big Buck and Big Fish.
Last year at the St. Joe tournament, all the boats had limits and short sleeve shirts. What will it be like this year? We’ll find out this Saturday the 13th, when the first big water tournament gets underway. The Captain’s meeting will be at 6:00am, with the tournament running 7am-2pm.
