Pt. Augres tournament: Captain meeting will be at the State Boat Ramp at 6am, Tournament will Start at 7am from the pier head. You can also come out from Pt. Augres Marina and Campground to the pier head.
In the past a few members stay at Pt. Augres Marina and Campground and have a cook out there after the tournament, Campground and Marina is at 2325 Green Drive Augres Mi. 48703, PH 989-876-7314. Do not follow your GPS, it will send you 2 tracking down some very rough roads (trails). They say that they have almost 5ft of water going out to the Bay, I will be checking on this by Wednesday July 9th. To be sure so you can call me Thursday or Wednesday night for the depth.

(gas station on corner), take Santiago south to Gordon Rd and turn east (Left) take Gordon Rd to Green Drive (end of Gordon Rd.) and turn north (Left) Green road will take you right though the campground and Marina.

Flint River Valley Steelheaders Membership meeting is this Wednesday. As fishing starts to ramp up and summer is just around the corner, this will be our last meeting of the summer until September 17th. Our meeting place is upstairs at Walli’s on Center Road. Social hour begins at 6:30pm with the meeting getting underway at 7:30pm. See you there.
The Thumb Chapter of the Michigan Steelheaders needs our help. They are holding a Veterans Free Fishing Day on June 14th at Harbor Beach. They really need boats to help get these veterans on the water. If you can help, the Marina will give you a boat slip Friday night for free. They might even be able to help with fuel money if needed.

The Holland Steelheader Tournaments are this weekend. If you want to fish the Holland Challenge you can sign up online … click here. The Captain’s meeting is Friday the 16th at 7pm. If you can’t make it, Randy Bailey has made arrangements with Holland tournament director to pick up your Captain folders and will pass them out Saturday morning to you. Make sure to get in contact with Randy to make the arrangements.
If you plan on fishing the Flint Steelheaders Holland Spoon Tournament on Sunday May 18th. Please contact Randy Bailey, since this is tournament is limited to 10 boats.
The first tournament of the season was this weekend at Harbor Beach. Here are the results.
The first big water tournament for the Flint Steelheaders is just around the corner. April 26th, the tournament will be at Harbor Beach. Captain’s meeting will be at 5:15am in the parking lot next to the fish cleaning station. A few things have changed in the rules department, make sure to take a few minutes to read them over for this years tournaments.
The Michigan Recreation and Park Association held their annual awards ceremony on March 19th in East Lansing to recognize individuals and groups who show outstanding support to public recreation and park programs in their community. The Steelheaders were nominated for an award by Nancy Edwards of Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission for our involvement in the annual Kids Fishing Derby. Because of the clubs support for this event the Flint River Valley Steelheaders was granted a MRPA’s Community Service Award. Representing the Steelheaders at the ceremony was Nick Marinelli and Al Trasciatti. Good job and congratulations to all.
